1962 Ford Falcon - Cream Puff
This has to be the sweetest 2 owner, low mileage, rust free, stock Falcon around. I've owned this car since '02 and know every inch. I've spent the last 2 decades making it nicer each year. I purchased it from the nephew of the original owner who was his Aunt. Following the death of his Aunt, his mother received the car who in turn gave it to him. In the short time he owned it, he had the carburetor rebuilt and new exhaust installed. The Peacock Blue paint was ordered by his Aunt while living in Astoria, Oregon. She ordered it radio delete. Her husband was a mechanic and not trusting anyone, he altered the hood release in such a way that it requires the use of a handmade "hook" to open the hood. He was only person that ever worked on or serviced the car. As a result, it is an amazing car. Never abused, driven only by mature adults and the condition of the car reflects that. That is a brief history of the car. I intend to go into great detail so that any interested person will be fully aware of this car by the time they get to the end of this posting. I am proud of this car and truly believe it is worth more than I am asking for it. So....if you are truly interested in this car, I invite you to read on because I intend to touch every base. Meaning, I am going to describe everything I have ever done to the car from day 1.
Before doing so I will list the items I feel may be negatives.... 1) There is an occasional squeal heard when the clutch is depressed. Possibly a dry throw out or pilot bearing issue. 2) The front bumper has a minor tweak in it. 3) There is an area on the rear of the trunk lid that I believe once had a bumper sticker placed there. I have it covered with a 'Beatles' decal which covers the worst part. I chose that decal because they were formed in '62. 4) The only area that has not been detailed extensively is the engine compartment. 5) The spring in the trunk key entry unit doesn't function but is all there. Its ability to spring closed no longer exists. That's it, a short list.
It is an old classic so of course it has it's minor flaws such as thin paint and dings etc. The engine compartment is pretty much all stock and untouched. To a buyer this is an advantage to be able to see exactly how it has survived. The underside is completely undercoated and in fantastic condition. The under hood insulation is intact. The exterior is stock with original paint, glass and chrome. The interior is unbelievably stock and beautiful. The trunk area needed and received some attention. I located and corrected its problem areas years ago I removed the trunk mat. It was ugly. I discovered a gap along the bottom of the rear windshield's gasket allowing water to enter. I soldered all the trunk decks rusted pin holes. I wire wheeled the remaining areas and then neutralized everything. The entire trunk was then painted with color matching Peacock Blue. I removed the exterior SS trim pieces covering the bottom of the rear wheel well areas. Water had found its way down there. The passenger side required removal and replacement of some of the metal. The driver's side wasn't nearly as extensive. I have photos showing all that work on both sides. These areas were the only places on the car where rust ever existed. The exterior trim pieces that needed attention were the tail light bezels and lenses, all were replaced. The bezels are a one year only design and were hard to locate. The NOS lenses were easily found. I also replaced the body to bumper 'gasket' located behind the rear bumper as well as the failed rear glass seal. The gas cap was also replaced. I had the 4 rims sandblasted and powder coated. I purposely did not paint them the matching blue. The turquoise interior of this car is amazing. I have installed the proper exactly matching carpet, headliner and dome light. The seat belts are new. The bottom bench of the front seat was thread bare on the driver's side. I located enough of the exact fabric, vinyl and piping to cover the entire seat. The seat was also rebuilt. The rest of the interior is stock including the perfect padded dash, sun visors, door panels and the cover on the package shelf. All the knobs are original & intact as well as the glove box liner. The radio delete cover is original and an off color. All windows function perfectly as do all dash components. They are tight including the turn signal lever and require little effort to operate. The steering wheel shows wear but no cracks. There is an after market, dash mounted ammeter and oil pressure set of gauges. All stock dash gauges function. In short, the interior looks new.
The factory and/or dealer added features are: 170 hp engine Door edge guards Rear wheel-well guards Large rear windshield (some have the smaller one) Passenger side rear view mirror Owners manual
Rebuilt/replaced parts (listed oldest to newest): Fuel pump Master cylinder Wheel cylinders Radiator Upper & lower radiator hoses Fuel sending unit
Additional facts: Original ignition keys Factory production marks (engine compartment) Excellent brakes Steers straight Impressive horse power Very low mileage - 60,800 Collector Vehicle plates
Lastly....the engine neither burns or leaks any oil. It starts easily every time and runs smoothly. There are no leaks anywhere of any fluids. The title is a clean one, the VIN # is 2R11U176308 Scale weight - 2,674 lbs The car has been kept indoors since I have owned it and most likely its entire life. It is available to be seen and driven. I have been involved in shipping vehicles even as far away as Japan. I'm willing to work with anyone not living in my immediate area needing to ship the car. I am retired, home daily, and available to answer any questions. I live a few miles from the Clark County Fairgrounds, Exit #9 off I-5 in Clark County, Washington, which is across the Columbia River from Portland, OR.
I am not interested in having help selling the car.
